# Grok Bot use cases: real jobs to hand to a Bot

Twenty jobs people hand to Grok Bots, sorted by kind of work. Each shows the Bot to build, what it needs, how it runs and what comes back. Plus templates.

People hand Grok Bots the jobs that come round again: a morning brief, a weekly price check, notes before a call, drafts that wait for a click. Here are twenty of them, each with the Bot to build and what it needs.

**In short**

- The jobs that work best repeat, read before they write, and end in something you review.
- Several need nothing connected. A Bot can read public web pages from its first message.
- A job runs one of two ways: one message when you need it, or a routine on a schedule.
- A template is a ready-made Bot you add from a link. Your own logins don't come with it.

Each job shows the Bot to build, what it needs (plugins, or the browser), how it runs (one message or a routine) and what comes back, with a link to the Bot builder and to the page that teaches the piece.

Start any of them as one message. When a job comes back the way you want it, ask the same Bot to repeat it on a schedule.

## What a finished job looks like

A result arrives as a message in the Bot's chat. This one is the first job on the shelf, 57 seconds after the request was sent.

![A Bot's chat. A grey line reads Created routine, then the routine's name. The Bot says the weekday digest is set for 8:00 AM, then posts this week's digest: five bullets about AI coding tools, each ending in a link to its source. A last line says weekday digests will land here at 8:00 AM](https://learngrokbot.com/assets/shots/use-cases-digest.png)

1. The routine was created before the digest arrived. **Created routine** is the line that confirms it.
2. Every bullet ends in a link to where the Bot found it.
3. The Bot says when the next one lands, and offers to change the format.

Two more results from the shelf are shown in full elsewhere: the [price table](https://learngrokbot.com/what-is-grok-bot#looks-like), and the [prep notes](https://learngrokbot.com/first-bot#first-task), which arrive as a file.

## Start from a template

A template is a copy of someone's Bot that you add to your own app from a link. Before anything is added, the app shows you what's inside. Here is that screen for one template, with its name, author and description blurred.

![A dialog in the Grok Bot app for a shared Bot. Under the Bot's picture, its name, its author and its description are blurred. Then two rows that open: Context, with Instructions, memories, and skills under it, and Routines, with one routine named under it. At the bottom right, an Add Bot button](https://learngrokbot.com/assets/shots/use-cases-template-review.jpg)

1. **Context** opens the Bot's instructions, memories and skills. Read them: this is what the Bot will act on.
2. **Routines** lists what it will run on a schedule.
3. **Add Bot** creates your copy and sends its first message for you.

Templates live on the web, at x.ai/bot/marketplace, sorted into nine categories. The app doesn't list them: its **Bot templates ↗** link, in **Connect Apps**, opens your browser. On a template's page, click **Add to Grok Bot** and let your browser open the app.

A template brings the Bot's setup and none of its maker's access.

- **Comes with it:** the Bot's instructions, the memories and skills its maker chose to pack, its routines, and the list of plugins it uses.
- **Stays behind:** logins and signed-in sites, chat history, and the computer the Bot worked on. You sign in to each plugin yourself.

A template's page says the Bot was made by another user, and adding it gives that Bot a place on your account. Templates from the Grok Bot team carry a **Verified** badge.

To share a Bot of your own, click the share button at the top right of the app and choose **Create a copy**. The Bot packs a template of itself and shows it to you as a card. Nothing is public until you click **Publish**.

## Check: what comes with a template?

One check on what a template leaves for you to do.

**Predict: You add a template for a Bot that sorts an inbox. It lists Gmail as a plugin. You ask your new Bot to sort today's mail. What happens?**

- It sorts your mail at once, because the template came with Gmail
- It asks you to connect Gmail first
- It sorts the inbox of the person who made the template

Answer: It asks you to connect Gmail first

A template carries the list of plugins a Bot uses, and none of the sign-ins. Your copy asks you to connect Gmail, then works in the mailbox you sign in to. Open its **Details** tab too, and read each routine's schedule before you leave it to run.

Next, build the Bot for the job you picked.

Pick a job, answer a few questions and leave with a name, a first message, a routine and a rule, ready to paste in.
