On this page

Grok Bot launched in beta on 11 August 2026. Since then the price of entry has fallen from $200 to $20 a month, the app has reached Linux, Android and iPad, and several screens have new names. The desktop app is on version 0.68.1.

#The changes that matter most

Nine changes decide what you pay, where Grok Bot runs and what a Bot can do. They're in date order, newest first, each with the page that teaches it.

When What changed Where it's taught
2 October 2026 Main Bot. One Bot, marked with a star, checks in with offers to take work on and coordinates your other Bots. Its suggestions, which began the day before, don't count against your usage. Your Main Bot
28 September Team Bots. One Bot a whole team chats with, in the app or in Slack, each person in a private chat. In public beta on Cursor Teams and Enterprise. Teams and Slack
17 September Voice. A live voice chat with a Bot, on desktop and phone. A day later Bots could send voice notes. Type, dictate or talk
9 September Usage & Billing. Settings shows your weekly usage, and the chat warns you near the limit. The monthly cap on on-demand spending had arrived on 25 August. Usage limits
3 September Enterprise. Open to every Cursor Enterprise team, once an admin turns it on. Teams
2 and 3 September Android and iPad. The Android app on 2 September, iPad support a day later. Platforms
30 August to 4 September Linux. A desktop app for Linux, as a .deb, an .rpm or an AppImage. A team member announced it on 30 August, and the official FAQ listed it by 4 September. Linux
21 and 26 August More plans, lower prices. Cursor Pro+, SuperGrok Plus and every Cursor Teams seat on 21 August, with a free trial for everyone else. Cursor Pro, SuperGrok and X Premium+ on 26 August, which put the entry price at $20 a month. Pricing and the free trial
11 August Launch, in beta, on Mac, Windows and iPhone, for Cursor Ultra, SuperGrok Heavy and Cursor Teams Premium seats. What is Grok Bot?

#Screens and names that changed

Those nine added things. Six more changes renamed or removed something you click, so a tutorial recorded in August or September can show a button your app doesn't have. Find the label your tutorial uses.

An older tutorial shows The app now Changed
Bot settings, Description, Edit Profile A Bot has no settings page and no description field. You tell a Bot its job in a chat message. See the standing job. Late September
Marketplace, Plugins Connect apps, at the bottom of the sidebar. It opens a window titled Connect Apps. See connect a plugin. 26 September, for the button
Auto-review Rules Custom Rules, in the same place in Settings. Team accounts still show the older name. See write a rule. Version 0.68.1, October
Test run, Run history Both are gone from a routine's page. Ask the Bot to run the routine now. See routines. Mid-September
New Channel Create group chat. See group chats. Early September
Agent Bot. Only the word changed. 14 August

The glossary lists every older name beside what the app calls it today.

#The first eight weeks at a glance

Put on one line, those changes fall into an order. The first month settled who could get in and on which devices. The second added new ways to work with a Bot.

Each stop has its dated entry in the lists below.

#Every dated change, month by month

October is open. Click an earlier month to unfold it. Version numbers are the desktop app's, and an entry without one was announced outside the release notes.

#October 2026

  1. The desktop download is version 0.68.1, newer than the latest release notes. In it the plugin window is titled Connect Apps and the approval rules are headed Custom Rules. The iPhone and iPad app reaches version 1.14.0.
  2. Main Bot: choose one Bot, marked with a star, to check in with you and coordinate the others (v0.66.0). A Bot that hangs on a stuck command or computer now stops itself with a note. Usage limits are reset for everyone, for the third time.
  3. Your primary Bot starts offering to take on work without being asked. The suggestions don't count against your usage.

What changed in September 2026?

  1. A Team Bot's creator can add Managers, teammates who can change it (v0.64.0), and teammates can start a voice chat with a Team Bot (v0.65.0). Automatic Updates is on by default. Email and Slack draft cards offer Disable drafts for this Bot.
  2. The plugin window stops listing Bot templates and lists plugins only (v0.63.0). Running out of included usage now shows the usage limit notice, where it used to show Bot failed to respond.
  3. Team Bots are announced, in public beta on Cursor Teams and Enterprise. A Bot's details panel gains a Library tab, and a message that didn't go through shows Failed to send with Resend and Delete (v0.62.0).
  4. Team Bots arrive in the app (v0.61.0). The sidebar's Marketplace button becomes Connect apps, and email drafts work with Outlook (v0.60.0). A Finance plugin connects bank, card and investment accounts through Plaid, read-only.
  5. Hitting a usage or spending limit shows the full limit banner, with buttons such as Upgrade, Set Spend Limit or Request Upgrade. An expired approval card offers Always allow this in the future (v0.59.0).
  6. The search and New chat buttons move to the top of the sidebar, and the Bot's name at the top of a chat opens its details (v0.58.0). Plugins for Google Slides, Sheets and Docs.
  7. Grok 4.7 is released, trained to understand how Grok Bot works.
  8. Bots can send voice notes. The right-click menu loses Edit Profile and Duplicate, and Hidden Bots becomes a section at the foot of the sidebar with Show in sidebar (v0.57.0).
  9. Voice chat begins rolling out on desktop and phone. Approval cards say in one sentence what the Bot wants to do, with the detail behind View the full request. Telling a Bot to stop also stops the Bots it handed work to (v0.56.0).
  10. You can pause a routine and resume it (v0.52.0). On a Mac, Bots can sign in with logins saved in 1Password, and a Bot's computer uses your time zone (v0.53.0).
  11. Setup creates your first Bot for you, and a routine can be deleted (v0.51.0).
  12. A setting sends the web traffic of your Bots' computer through your own computer (v0.50.0). A Microsoft Teams plugin.
  13. Usage & Billing shows your weekly usage, and the chat warns you near the limit (v0.46.0). You can add more than one account and switch between them (v0.48.0). The iPad app is announced. Bots use usage more efficiently, which gives an average of 10% more included usage.
  14. A Bot can write an email or a Slack message as a draft for you to send or discard (v0.45.0).
  15. A Bot that needs a sign-in asks with a form in the chat and fills the page for you, where it used to hand you its computer (v0.44.0).
  16. Usage limits are reset for everyone, for the second time.
  17. Bot templates can be added from a marketplace, with a Verified badge on the ones made by the Grok Bot team (v0.41.0). Start from a template shows where they are now.
  18. Grok Bot opens to every Cursor Enterprise team (v0.40.0). Version 1.6.0 of the iPhone app adds iPad.
  19. The Android app arrives on Google Play.
  20. The cap on how many Bots you can create is lifted. Hourly, interval and daily routines keep time from the moment you create them (v0.31.0).

What changed in August 2026?

  1. A Grok Bot team member announces a desktop app for Linux. The official FAQ lists it by 4 September.
  2. Grok Bot works with X: connect your X account and a Bot can search posts, read your timeline and check your mentions.
  3. You can share a Bot as a template. In the US, a Bot can buy things through Link, and you approve each payment (v0.30.0).
  4. Settings gains a Computer section, where you choose Always allow, Ask every time or Never allow for actions on your own computer (v0.29.0).
  5. Cursor Pro, SuperGrok and X Premium+ subscribers get Grok Bot, which brings the entry price to $20 a month. Weekly usage limits are reset for everyone, for the first time.
  6. On an individual plan you can set the monthly on-demand limit to None, Fixed or Unlimited (v0.25.0).
  7. Cursor Pro+, SuperGrok Plus and every Cursor Teams seat get Grok Bot, and everyone else can claim a free trial. The entry price falls from $200 to $60 a month.
  8. You can pick the app's language, and a routine can start from a webhook (v0.21.0).
  9. The app says Bot where it said Agent (v0.19.0). Dictation arrives, with Cmd+D on a Mac and Ctrl+D on Windows and Linux (v0.20.0). Cursor announces that it's now part of SpaceX.
  10. The first numbered release notes (v0.17.0). A routine can start from a Microsoft Teams message, a Linear issue, a Sentry alert or a PagerDuty incident.
  11. Grok Bot launches in beta on Mac, Windows and iPhone, for Cursor Ultra, SuperGrok Heavy and Cursor Teams Premium seats.

#Check: an August tutorial, today's app

Now use the table of changed screens on the case you're most likely to meet.

Predict

A video from August tells you to click your Bot's name, open Bot settings and paste the Bot's job into Description. In today's app the panel that opens has no such field. What do you do?

  • Look for the field under Settings, in General
  • Send the Bot its job as a message in its chat
  • Install an older version of the app, where the field still exists
Show the answer

Send the Bot its job as a message in its chat

The Bot settings page went away in late September, and nothing in Settings took its place. A Bot's standing job is now a message you send it. Tell the Bot its standing job shows one with each part labeled.

An older version won't help either, because once a version is too old, Update required covers the whole window until you update.
